The Diocese of York’s Safeguarding Team with York Minster invites ministers, parish volunteers and committed church members to take part in a week of online sharing, teaching and learning, with a focus on developing the safeguarding culture that will keep everyone safe and sound in our Diocese and Cathedral.
The week will encourage local churches in building a safeguarding culture through all their activities; not so much 'doing safeguarding things' as 'doing things in a safe and sound way' that enables everyone to flourish.
A variety of events is available each day to help parishes and church communities deepen their understanding and awareness of safeguarding and how to embed it in their culture, and also how to identify what signs they should be looking out for, and where to turn to if they have concerns about children, young people or adults.
Formats will include interactive virtual training events alongside an in-person event at Bishopthorpe Palace on Wednesday 16th November.
Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser Rob Marshall says, “Please join us during this important week so that we can continue to build a safeguarding culture in every parish and church - so that everyone who worships or visits can stay Safe and Sound.
