Revd. Peter Kay
Facebook Video of Our New Vicar
Hello! My name is Peter Kay (not the famous one, I'm afraid) and since May 2025 I've had the privilege of being the vicar of the Hertford Benefice of churches - Hunmanby, Muston, Folkton, Willerby and Ganton.
I was born in the great city of Sheffield in 1972 and as a family we moved to rural Lincolnshire when I was 10, going to secondary school in Market Rasen. After university at Cambridge (Natural Sciences) I spent a year discovering I wasn't cut out to be a school teacher and eventually found my path working in financial roles as a Chartered Management Accountant.
I'd had on-and-off connections with church throughout my younger life, and had a spiritually aware side in different ways, but it was in my early 20's, after my teaching role had fallen through, that I reached the end of myself.... and discovered in a new way that that God was real and still there for me.
I'd long had a sense that He was calling me to ordination, and in 2009 my wife and I moved to the West country where I was at theological college. Since then ministry has taken us to suburban Hertfordshire, rural Bedfordshire and most recently the wonderful port town of Goole. We're delighted to be in another part of Yorkshire, in this beautiful area.
In my leisure time I enjoy hanging out with my family, and occasional dad-and-lad trips with my son to the mighty Sheffield Wednesday. I'm a regular Parkrunner, and have recently started to challenge myself through half marathons. Running is a good way to offset another of my loves, coffee with chocolate biscuits !
